Newcastle John's 1967 MK1

This is a 1967 MK1 Mini as found in a barn near Redditch - the car is now undergoing an extensive rebuild which will take a few years.

One Year Later :: Jan 06

New boot floor, new wheel arches, new bulkhead and a Mk1 rear end found on eBay - the rear end of the car now has some strength!

Here is the new floor assembly which is a combination of Heritage panels and M-Machine Panels. The floor sections, jacking points and heelboard are all Heritage panels. I wanted to retain the round tunnel which was supplied by M-Machine as were the outer sills which I have to say are the best fitting non genuine sills I have ever fitted to a Mini. M-Machine have also supplied the crossmember and brackets for the brake pipes etc. I will post another picture once these are fitted.

The next job is to brace the shell ready to fit the new floor - I am a bit nervous as I never undertaken this task before - watch this space.

The shell is now braced and mounted on a spit ready to cut out the old floor.

The toe board and inner wings are going to be replaced as well. The toe board is the later type modified by for the Mk1/2 by M - Machine.

Here we have the floor removed and the new toe board fitted.

Here the floor has been fitted with complete with clips etc.

Front end removed and new crossmember in place. The crossmember was a lucky find at Stanford Hall - it is a genuine part for a MK1/2.

Testing the panel fit to ensure it all lines up.
